How to Help the people
When you are close to someone, you notice changes before others might. Obsessive behavior. Chasing losses. Spending more than fun money. But whether it’s a friend or family, or even a customer, we all have a part to play. And WellPlayed Ohio™ has the support you need to help. Because looking out for someone you care about? Well, that’s Well Played.
What to
Noticing something feels “off” doesn’t mean there is a serious problem. In many cases, it just means play might be moving out of balance.
The start of a problem often shows up in small, everyday ways before anything serious happens. Sometimes, it can point to something more. These are a few common signs that someone’s play might need a conversation.
Signs Play Might Not Be Well Played
- Playing longer or more often than planned.
- Spending more than “fun money” or stretching the budget.
- Talking about lottery play as a way to fix financial stress.
- Lying about the amount of money or time spent playing the lottery.
- Becoming irritable, distracted, or anxious around play.
- Feeling pressured to keep playing after wins and losses.
- Letting play interfere with work, family, or other interests.
- Playing multiple times a day.
- Playing to escape problems or negative feelings.
- Bragging about gambling, exaggerating wins, or minimizing losses.
Seeing one or two signs doesn’t always mean it’s a problem. But if several of these behaviors are happening – or they feel intense – it may be time for additional support.
